UNESCO made the suggestion at a Capacity development training for staff of Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Education and its agencies on curriculum related issues.

The UN education arm described the present day curriculum as overloaded, outdated and is falling short of present day demands.

Today in Nigeria, it is estimated that over 50 percent of youths still remain unemployed, a situation many attribute to a curriculum that is outdated.

UNESCO added that Nigeria must review her curriculum if it wants to see the much needed development desires in its education sector.

While the Education Ministry and its agencies, say they are developing plans to overhaul the country’s curriculum to allay concerns in Nigeria’s education sector.
