The Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Nasarawa State has raised alarm over a purported plan by the state government to use security operatives to deny elected members of the state Assembly who are from opposition parties entry into the Assembly complex in a bid to stop them from electing the speaker and other principal officers of their choice ..

A statement by the chairman of PDP in the state Mr Francis Orogu alleges that the move is to enable the state government to impose it’s preferred candidates.

According to Mr Orogu observed ,similar concerns were raised but ignored before the just concluded governorship election where security personnel were used to stop agents of opposition parties and their leaders access to collation centers.

The statement thereby urges the executive arm in the state not to interfere in the business of the legislature with a view to imposing leadership on them ,describing such move as undemocratic and anti people.

The Nasarawa state PDP chairman called on the state commissioner of Police ,DSS and heads of other security agencies to remain apolitical and neutral in discharging their responsibility as enshrined in the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria.

Mr Francis Orogu also appealed to supporters of the party to resist any temptation that could lead to disruption of peaceful coexistence in the state ..
