By Kalu Idika
The Nasarawa State governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Lafia has fixed 21 June, 2023 for full hearing on the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the PDP in the March 18 governorship election in the state, Dr. Emmanuel David Ombugadu challenging the declaration of governor Abdullahi Sule as the winner of the election by the INEC.
The Chairman of the 3 man panel of Justices, Ezekiel Oyeyemi fixed the date after legal counsels to all the parties involved in the petition adopted their prehearing addresses.
Counsel to the petitioner, Joe Gadzama, SAN had prayed the tribunal to strike out some paragraphs in the response of the 2nd respondent, Abdullahi Sule for lacking in merits.
Opposing the submission of Emmanuel Ombugadu, Legal Counsel to governor Abdullahi Sule, Wale Olanikpekun, SAN urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition.
According to him, the tribunal lacked the jurisdiction to the relief sought by the petitioner.
Counsel to the APC, Hassan Liman, SAN and Counsel to INEC, I. Iliyasu aligned their arguments with the Counsel to governor Abdullahi Sule urging the tribunal to dismiss the petition by Emmanuel Ombugadu.
The Chairman of the tribunal Ezekiel Oyeyemi reserved ruling on the applications and counter responses for later day.
