Farmers Appeal For Intrest-Free Loan

Some women farmers in Nasarawa State have appealed to the government at all levels to assist them with interest-free loans to enable them to contribute their quota to ensuring food security in the country.
They appealed to an assembly of the Young Men’s Christian Association, YMCA Mada Hills with the support of Oxfam Together Against Poverty Tap Two and other women farmers groups in Lafia.
According to Mrs Justina Anjugu, Patience Emaikhu and Patricia Onoja , women constituted seventy five percent of farming population in the country.
They pleaded with federal and state governments to increase budgetary allocation to Agriculture, Interest -free loans and modern farm inputs at a subsidized rate to farmers to boost food production in the country.
Also speaking, Mrs Agnes Agule, Ruth Joseph and Dinah Galadima appealed to the government at all levels to provide them with security to enable them to go to their farms without fear of attacks.
The Executive Secretary of YMCA Mada Hills, Mr Ango Adamu explained that YMCA is giving women farmers all the necessary support following the significant role they play in food production in the country.
