Governor Sule Urges Corps Members to Contribute to Economic Growth

Corps Members deployed to Nasarawa State have been posted to their places of primary assignment with a call on them to respect the cultures and traditions of their host communities and complement government’s effort in socio- economic development of the state.

Governor Abdullahi Sule made the call during the closing ceremony of Batch B Stream One Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi.

The Governor said he was pleased with the smooth conduct of the corps members during the orientation course, urged them to apply the lessons gained on camp in the service year and beyond.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties, Legal Matters and Youth Affairs, Mr Alphonsus Maikeffi, encouraged them to interact freely with the people of their host communities and respect their costumes & traditions as government support them to succeed.

Earlier, State Co-ordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Alhaji Abdullahi Jikamshi, announced that there was no record of misconduct by Corps members, stressing that they exhibit a sense of discipline and adaptability through out the orientation.

Alhaji Jikamshi who appealed to corps employers to accept Corps Members posted to them and make necessary provision for their welfare, urged them to put into practice the skills learnt on camp towards the growth of their host communities.

Some of the Corps Members: Patience Moses and Nja Micah, assured people of the state of their readiness to be of good behaviour and contribute to nation building.

About one thousand, two hundred and seventy-six Batch B Stream one Corps Members have already been deployed to serve the one-year compulsory national service in Nasarawa State.
