In a bid to alleviate the burden of malaria in Nasarawa State, the implementing partner Malaria Consortium has ramped up its initiatives. Recently, a two-day capacity training session was organized for Social Mobilization Officers from all thirteen local government areas of the state.

The workshop, facilitated by the seasoned Zonal Program Manager of Malaria Consortium, Hajiya Hafsat Musa Baba, aimed to equip participants with enhanced knowledge and skills necessary for the effective discharge of their responsibilities. Hajiya Hafsat stressed the importance of seeking advocacy from relevant stakeholders to ensure project success and taught attendees about the effective use of an advocacy toolkit.

During the event, Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Elisha Zechariah Maleeks shed light on utilizing awareness data as a means to measure program effectiveness and identify areas where information and mobilization activities need to be intensified.

Director of Social Mobilization at the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Ibrahim Muhammad, encouraged mobilization officers to improve their data collection techniques and increase awareness among the public regarding the importance of administering the full dose of SPAQ to their children.

Though the Director of Social Mobilization acknowledged a reduction in the malaria burden in Nasarawa State due to interventions, he emphasized the need for continued efforts to achieve the set goals.
