NAWOJ Decry Gender-Based Violence, Call for Better Measures

Stakeholders across the country have been enjoined to close ranks towards achieving zero level of gender based violence especially against women and children.

Nasarawa State Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Comrade Hadiza Umar, made the call when she led members of the Association on a courtesy visit to the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Labaran Magaji in Lafia.

Comrade Hadiza Umar said the call became necessary owing to increasing rate of gender based violence among women and girls.

The NAWOJ Chairperson appealed to Ministery of Justice to ensure that perpetrators of gender based violence are brought to book to serve as deterrent to others.

Responding,The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Labaran Magaji commended NAWOJ members for their untiring efforts,promising to partner the association to achieve its zero gender violence drive among women and girls in the state.

NAWOJ delegation also visited Habo Orphanage home where it donated food items and toiletries to the children to reduce their sufferings occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Founder of the Orphanage home,Mrs Helen Bala thanked NAWOJ for the humanitarian gesture, calling on other wealthy and spirited individuals to emulate the humanitarian gesture of Women Journalists in the state.
