Abducted Benue Commissioner regains freedom
Mathew Abo, Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, abducted more than a week ago has finally regained freedom.
Mr Abo was whisked away by some unknown gunmen from his Sankara home over a week ago prompting the State Governor, Hycinth Alia to direct security agencies to rescue the Commissioner.
In a statement on Thursday, the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Tersoo Kula confirmed that the Commissioner has been released and reunited with his family in Sankera, Ukum Local Government.
According to him, the release followed the state Governor’s pressure on security agencies to exert similar intense pressure on kidnappers to secure his release.
Mr Kula however said no ransom or any sort of exchange was involved in securing Mr Abo’s release.
