UCL: Barca cruise to victory as Newcastle, Man City shine
Barca’s Champions League woes seems to have disappeared after cruising to victory in Portugal with a 0-1 victory against Porto.
Feran Torres’ goal at the stroke of halftime was enough to secure a valuable victory for the Spanish Champions who also lost their striker, Robert Lewandowski to injury during the clash and their defender, Araujo who suffered a knock.
The home team, Porto piled pressure on Barca’s defence but the Spanish Champions remained resolute even after being reduced to 10-men following Gavi’s red card.
Barca have now secured 6-points from their opening two matches and are topping their group.
Elsewhere, Newcastle United trounced Ligue1 Champion, PSG by 4-1 heralding a beautiful champions League atmosphere after that has been missing for 20-years.
Newcastle proved too strong for Luis Enrique’s PSG who succumbed to the host’s constant barrage of attacks on their defense.
Goals from Miguel Almiron, Dan Burnsent, Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar sent the fans wild.
The defending champions Man City also recorded a comfortable victory against RB Leipzig with the visitors dominating the proceedings from the onset.
Goals from Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez and new recruit, Jeremy Doku were enough to keep the champions afloat.
City have now equaled the longest European unbeaten run by an English club, level on 16 with Leeds (1967-1968), Tottenham (1967-1972), Chelsea (2018-2019) and West Ham, whose run started last year.
