Nasarawa to Curtail Diversion of Palliatives As Second Phase Distribution Commenced

Curtailing incidences of diversion of palliative meant for the vulnerable have been placed on the front burner in Nasarawa State.
This is to ensure that citizens of the state are not shortchanged
State Commissioner for Special Duties on Humanitarian, Social Services and Non-Governmental Organisations, Princess Margaret Elayo dropped the hint at a stakeholders meeting in Awe local government area preparatory for the commencement of the second phase of the distribution of palliative to the vulnerable across the state.
President Bola Tinubu recently introduced a social intervention programme to bring succour to the aged and people below the poverty line to reduce the hardships occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy in the country.
In the light of this, Nasarawa state government engaged some key stakeholders in Awe Local government Area to identify the most vulnerable members of the society to benefit from the second phase of the distribution of palliative.
Addressing the stakeholders, Princess Margret Elayo informed them that Governor Abdullahi Sule has ordered the commencement of the second phase of the distribution hence the meeting with relevant stakeholders to map out strategies on how to identify the aged and vulnerable members in the society.
She warned that the state government will take drastic measures against anyone caught diverting palliative meant for the vulnerable urging the beneficiaries to exhibit high sense of responsibility during the distribution and ensure that they use the items to improve livelihoods of their families.
In their remarks, the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Isa Abubakar, Commissioner for Agriculture and Water Resources, Mr Umar Dan’Akano and Chairman of Awe Local government, Usman Umar lauded the efforts of the government for introducing a policy that caters for the needs of the most vulnerable in the state to reduce hardship among the people in the country.
Some beneficiaries who were captured in the mapping exercise Talatu Ladan and Danladi Tokura appreciated the Government for the gesture.
The State Commissioner for Special duties on Humanitarian, Social services and NGOs Princess Margaret Elayo and her entourage also visited the old Awe town for a similar exercise.
