Germany is seeking better co-operation with Nigeria in the fields of energy, security, migration, and economy.

The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, presented this proposition during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

Olaf Scholz stressed that apart from oil and gas, Nigeria had been blessed with all aspects of opportunities that would need to be improved upon and put to profitable use.

On recent coups in the West African sub-region, the German Chancellor said the trend was worrisome, noting that they are capable of destabilising peace.

Responding to the Chancellor’s proposition, President Bola Tinubu said his administration would now be focused on its objectives, having won all litigation against his victory at the polls.

“The distraction is over. This gives us more time to focus on governance for the people and moving Nigeria forward”, the President added.

Acknowledging the status of Germany as the largest economy in Europe, the President noted that co-operation with Nigeria, the largest economy in Africa, would yield enormous benefits for both countries.

President Tinubu stated that he sought partnership with Germany in education, power, mineral resources and other opportunities available.

Later at a Government-to-Business Roundtable, President Tinubu said his administration was reforming the country’s economic and business environment to promote efficiency.
