Governor’s Demand Restructuring of Revenue Format

The need to restructure the nation’s revenue allocation format to favour states and Local Governments to enable them meet up with their responsibilities has been stressed.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State stated this at the opening Retreat of Union leaders and Government officials in Jos the Plateau state capital.
The importance of a cordial and harmonious industrial relationship between Labour and Government at all levels can never be overemphasized hence the need for constant dialogue.
It is in view of this that the Plateau state Government, the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, TUC in the state met to interact on issues of common interest.
Declaring the event open. Governor Caleb Mutfwang advocated an open discourse on the revenue allocation to enable States and Local Governments meet up with their numerous challenges
He implored civil servants to be decisively involved in governance by been trust bearers, and also charged labour leaders not to localise issues concerning them
Earlier, state Head of Service, Mrs Rauta Dakok noted that it had become necessary for them to Interface given the importance the present administration attaches to labour
On their part, state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Eugene Manji and that of the Trade Union Congress, TUC Kenneth Shammah described the retreat as apt.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Nigeria, chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Mrs Ayuko Pwaspo and that of the Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union, RATTAWU, Emmanuel Dolnaan pointed out that the event would go a long way towards preventing industrial crisis between the Government and unions in the state.
The four-day retreat with the theme Promoting Effective Social Dialogue for Industrial Relations under the context of the Time is Now Mantra is the first of its kind to be organized in Plateau State.
