INEC set for Rerun Elections in Nasarawa state

Preparations are on top gear to ensure a free, fair and credible conduct of the rerun election in Doma south and keana state constituencies of Nasarawa state scheduled for third February 2024.

New Resident Electoral commissioner of the Independent National Electoral commission INEC in the state Alhaji Shehu El wahab announced this during an interactive with journalists at the headquarters of the commission in lafia.

He said already,all non sensitive materials have been distributed to the six polling units where elections would be conducted.

According to Alhaji El wahab,the rerun election would hold in one polling unit in Rukubi community of Doma south and in five polling units in Agaza community of Keana state constituency ..

“What remains now is the sensitive materials which are intact..they include the BVAS machine,,Ballot Papers and Results sheets..of course with the result sheet of the last election..

The new INEC Boss in Nasarawa state restated commitment of the commission in conducting a credible election and appealed for support of residents to enable him succeed on his mandate.

Alhaji Shehu El wahab also stated that a town hall meetings would be held with critical stakeholders in the affected communities to create awareness on the need for a peaceful conduct of the rerun election in the state..

The rerun elections in one polling unit of Doma south and five polling units in Keana state constituencies followed an Appeal court judgement last year..
