Usman Ododo has been sworn in as the Governor of Kogi State, becoming the 5th Executive Governor of Kogi state

Ododo who took the oath of office in Lokoja on Saturday, he promised that Kogi will become one of the sub national pilots for Federal Governments programmes in food security, poverty eradication, job creation, fight against corruption and overall economic growth.

To kick the ground running, Governor ododo has nominated members of his cabinet and other top aides on his first day in office.

Ododo announced the nomination of some commissioners to be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for prompt confirmation as members of the State Executive Council (SEC) during his inaugural speech to the people of the state.

Ododo was declared as the winner of the November 11, 2023 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Ododo won with 446,237 votes, defeating his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who scored 259,052, while Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 46,362 votes.
