Minimum wage: FG inaugurates 37-member tripartite committee

The Federal Government has inaugurated a 37- member tripartite committee to recommend a new National Minimum Wage for the country on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the committee at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa Abuja, The Vice President, Kashim Shettima urged the members to come up with quality recommendations.
He also implored them to promptly reach a resolution and submit their reports.
The VP said the decision to set up the committee was to ensure a decent living wage and in compliance with the existing National Minimum Wage Act of 2019, which will expire in few months.

The former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Goni Bukar Aji will chair the committee.
Other members of the committee were selected from organized labour, the private sector and the federal and state governments.
