APC/PDP Candidates Sign Peace Agreement Ahead Rerun Election in Nasarawa State

Ahead of tomorrow’s state house of Assembly rerun in Keana local government area of Nasarawa state,the two leading candidates have signed an undertaking to ensure peaceful conduct during and after the polls.

The peace accord was signed by Candidates of the All Progressives Congress APC and the People’s Democratic party PDP at the state police command headquarters in lafia.

Addressing the two candidates ,the state police commissioner, Umar Nadada said the meeting became imperative following reports of plans by some individuals to cause commotion in the area and disrupt collation if there is indication that the election would not favour their candidate.

Umar Nadada said the signing of the peace agreement by the two leading Candidates from Keana state constituency was to get their assurance that either way the election goes,they would accept the outcome in good fate.

The state commissioner of police assured voters in Agaza ward of Keana state constituency and Rukubi community in Doma south that adequate security personnel have been deployed to each polling unit to maintain law and order during and after the election.

He warned those with intention to cause trouble during the exercise to keep off or face the consequences of breaching peace and orderliness..

In his remark,the Nasarawa state Resident Electoral commissioner of INEC,Alhaji Shehu El Wahab commended the police commissioner for the initiative, promising that on the part of the commission, arrangements have been concluded for the conduct of a transparent and credible election.

The two leading Candidates in the rerun for Keana state constituency, Adamu Omadefu of the APC and Basil Osheka of PDP both denied involvement in any attempt to disrupt the election and gave assurance to prevail on their supporters to avoid any act capable of disrupting the peaceful conduct of the polls as well as to maintain calm after announcement of results.

The rerun election in Keana state constituency will hold in five polling units of Agaza ward..
