FRCN Seeks Collaboration With The Swedish Embassy for Improved Broadcast Standards

The Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Mohammed Bulama, has visited the Swedish Embassy in Abuja on Thursday, February 8th, 2024, to discuss partnership opportunities aimed at acquiring advanced broadcast equipment and addressing power supply issues faced by the Corporation’s channels to enhance broadcasting quality across the nation’s largest radio network in alignment with global standards.

During the visit, the FRCN DG, Mohammed Bulama, highlighted the need for collaboration with the Swedish government to address challenges hinderingg the corporation’s channels from functioning optimally, particularly the medium and shortwave channels facing issues such as obsolete transmitting equipment and power supply constraints.

Areas of collaboration emphasized by the DG FRCN, include deploying cutting-edge technology, enhancing content, and providing training and retraining for staff to improve FRCN’s services.

Fredric Ashberg, the Head of the Political and Trade Section at the Swedish Embassy, welcomed the delegation and stressed the importance of government-owned stations in disseminating accurate information, citing the example of Radio Sweden.

He said that the Swedish government has identified Nigeria as a priority market for the green and digital transition, especially in power generation, and expressed optimism about FRCN benefiting from this transition to enhance its operations

Ashberg pledged to explore potential areas of collaboration with the Swedish public radio station to enhance the exchange of expertise and resources between the two organizations.
