Nasarawa Assembly Inaugurates fifth Assembly of the States Children Parliament

Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Mister Danladi Jatau has inaugurated fifth assembly of the state’s children parliament with a call on them to discharge their duty without fear or favor.

The children parliament was inaugurated after successful election of the parliament members in Lafia.

Mister Jatau reminded them to see their inauguration as an opportunity to enact laws at their level and express their feelings to government, parents and guidance.

Nasarawa State first lady Hajiya Shilifat Abdullahi Sule who was represented by the Deputy governor’s wife, Mrs. Sheila Tosan Akabe described children as unique individuals that need to be heard especially when they feel threatened and insured.

Representative of Minister of Women Affairs, Mister Emmanuel Alhassan commended the children for peaceful electing leaders who will speak for them, noting that chicken have a voice as enshrined in the right act.

In her opening remark state Commissioner, ministry of Women Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Rufai said children are special gifts and blessings from God that needed to be given a safe conducive environment.

Speaking on behalf of the children parliament members, Miss Mary Osanadi applauded the members for electing them to serve as their leaders and promised to carry out their assignment diligently.
