Tears as Akeredolu’s corpse arrives Akure

The body of Late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has arrived Akure the Ondo state capital.
The dark brown casket was moved to the government office in Alagbaka, Akure, for the lying-in-state as part of the activities lined up for his state burial.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Lucky Aiyedatwa described the demise of Mr Akeredolu as painful and said the state had to succumb to the will of God.
He explained that the lying-in-state at the governor’s office was symbolic because the office was his last place of work in the government.
Governor Aiyedatiwa recounted that during the late Akeredolu’s time as governor, he was passionate, committed to workers’ welfare and the development of the state.
Speaking on behalf of workers, the head of service, Kayode Ogundele said the late governor’s love for Ondo workers was uncommon.
Those who graced the occasion included the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Mr Adebayo Lawal, state chairman of the APC, Mr Ade Adetimehin, Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tayo Oluwatuyi, members of the Akeredolu family, former political appointees and various groups.
The state government had declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays in honour of the late governor.
