Tinubu, Elumelu, Dangote, others meet over economic hardship

President Bola Tinubu says the economic policies of his administration are aimed at making life better for Nigerians.

He stated this in Abuja during a meeting with selected members of the organized private sector on ways of ending the hardship being felt amidst the administration’s economic policies.

President Bola Tinubu told the stakeholders at a meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja that the economic policies of his administration are aimed at making life better for Nigerians.

The president told members of the committee that his administration might not have answers to all the problems confronting the citizenry, saying, however, that the government is doing its utmost to revamp the economy and make life better.

He said his administration had, in the course of implementing its policies, been reviewing their impacts, and correcting components perceived to be retrogressive.

The President said the administration was perpetually looking for additional ways and means that might help downtrodden Nigerians, assuring that the government will eventually provide the promised hope and pledging that economic recovery is on its way. ⁣

In an interview with State House correspondents, Alhaji Aliko Dangote said the meeting agreed that the Economic Presidential Advisory Committee review the entire economic problems in the country and address them.

Another participant, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabi’u, said they discussed ways to reduce the foreign exchange rates.

Also, Tony Elumelu expressed the hope that effective implementation of the decisions arrived at would propel the economy and help alleviate poverty in the land.

Contributing, Governor Charles Soludo said their unity of purpose, determination, sense of patriotism, and eagerness were demonstrated by the participants, adding that the tripartite committee will meet periodically to evaluate situations and make recommendations to the President for necessary action.

On his part, Governor Dapo Abiodun said his counterparts had resolved to join hands with the President to ensure that the necessary interventions from him to cushion the effect of the ongoing hardship were felt.

The Director-General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, told newsmen that the private sector would sincerely implement the decisions adopted at the meeting and play a significant role in alleviating the hardship being experienced.
