FCT Minister Condemns Looting of Warehouse
The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mariya Mahmoud, has described the looting of a warehouse in the area as a criminal act.
On Sunday, some suspected troublemakers ransacked a warehouse in Gwagwa-Tasha, stealing food items.
During a visit to the facility on Monday, Mariya, who expressed her disappointment and concern about the extent of the damage, said the act goes beyond hunger.
She explained that the looters took away all the grains and food items and even damaged the roofs and fences.
The minister maintained that the perpetrators would face the consequences of their actions, noting that a police post would be established in all government warehouses across the territory.
Following the incident, the FCT police reported that they had arrested 15 individuals and assured Nigerians that the situation had been brought under control.
Meanwhile, the FCT police command pointed out that they recovered 26 bags of maize, five motorcycles, and some damaged aluminum roofing materials from the suspects.
The looting of warehouses is not unconnected to the rising cost of living in the country, with many Nigerians clamoring for immediate intervention from the government to address the situation.
Some residents of some states have also protested against the rising inflation in the country occasioned by the reforms initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at improving the fortunes of the country and making life more meaningful for citizens.
Be that as it may, the President has assured Nigerians that the ongoing reforms have started yielding results, underscoring the need for Nigerians to be patient and support the government in its effort to reposition the country.
