The EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) has intercepted 21 trucks loaded with food and non-food items heading towards Chad, the Central African Republic, and Cameroon.

In a statement by Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media and Publicity for the Commission, the Maiduguri Zonal Command’s operatives apprehended these trucks in a well-planned operation on major roads leading out of Gamboru Ngala and Bama in Borno State.

The statement clarifies that the food items were hidden cleverly, making them difficult to detect, but the Commission’s operatives were vigilant and uncovered them.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the waybills for these trucks indicated that the goods were destined for N’djamena, Chad, the Central African Republic, and Cameroon.

The statement also mentioned that the arrested suspects are currently undergoing profiling and will face charges in court once the investigations are completed.

Last October, the Port Terminal Multiservice Limited, PTML Command of Nigeria Customs Service, seized 20 containers of expired tomatoes imported from Spain on the pretense of importing almond shells.
