The Police Command thwarted a kidnapping attempt on Tuesday in Katsina State.
The move led to the rescue of the victims and the recovery of one operational motorcycle from suspected bandits.
In a statement on Wednesday, the spokesman of the Katsina Police Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, said the incident occurred along Baure Village Road in Kankara LGA at about 6:30 pm.
According to the statement, the command, following a report, mobilized and confronted the criminals who had attacked motorists with the intent to kidnap them.
After successfully thwarting the operation of the bandits, the police rescued one person whom the bandits had already taken captive before their arrival.
In a swift reaction, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their bravery, dedication, and professionalism.
Musa said efforts were in top gear to arrest fleeing suspects, advising members of the public to promptly report anybody seen with a bullet wound, as some of the suspects escaped the scene with gunshot injuries.
