Plateau State Government to Resettle all IDPs

A security Task Force is to be set up by the Plateau State Government towards resettling all Internally Displaced Persons, IDP’S to their various places of abode.
This was disclosed by Governor Caleb Mutfwang when he received on a courtesy call the Chief of Mission, United Nations International Organization for Migration in Nigeria, Laurent De Boeck at the Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
Since time immemorial, migration has been a crucial part of everyday life for many Nigerians, which can either be internal or International.
Forced migration which is a part of internal migration can be driven by security, education, economic and climate factors.
Meanwhile, several conflicts in Nigeria has continued to force people away from their homes to different parts of the country.
In view of this and the persistent attacks in Plateau state leading migration of many, Governor Caleb Mutfwang said all modalities are been put in place towards providing adequate security for the safe return of all displaced persons to their respective ancestral homes.
Governor Mutfwang however regretted the unfortunate effect of such kinds of migration and how it has lingered, emphasized on the need of a symbiotic relationship between security the people.
Earlier, the Chief Mission, United Nations International Organization for Migration in Nigeria, Laurent De Boeck said the organization was in the state to seek partnership on how to reconcile and create a peaceful environment in order to discourage such forms of migration.
According to the United Nations High Commission for refugees, as of March 2022 there were well over two million, one hundred and ninety- five thousand registered IDP’S in the country.
