FG Inaugurates Automotive Development Plan Implementation C’ttee

Nigerian Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP) Implementation Committee has been inaugurated by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The Nigerian Automotive Industry Development Plan was approved by the Federal Government in 2023 to reduce over dependence on automobiles importation.
Speaking at the ceremony held at the Bank of Industry complex in Abuja, the Minister urged members of the Committee to show unwavering determination, towards realizing the mandate of the ministry.
The Director General, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Joseph Osanipin said the new Auto Policy (NAIDP-2023) was aimed at curtailing Nigeria’s overdependence on imports of automobiles and meeting a significant proportion of its demand through domestic production of vehicles and components.
The NAIDP 2023 Implementation Committee has the Minister of Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment as the Chairperson, other members include the Ministers of Finance, Transport and Environment.
Other agencies heads are Director General NADDC, Comptroller General Nigeria Customs Service, Executive Secretary, Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission, and Director General, Standards Organization of Nigeria.
While members from the Private Sector include representatives of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Nigeria Automotive Manufacturers Association and the Automotive Local Components Manufacturers Association.
