The Joint admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force to curb the activities of online scammers targeted at candidates for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

At a joint media briefing in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi explained that the fraudsters had created fake websites with the intention of misleading and exploiting candidates.

He said the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun had directed the force National Cyber Crime Center to track down the perpetrators and ensure they face the full wrath of the law.

ACP Adejobi called on parents and guardians to ensure that candidates who registered for this year’s UTME, print their Notification Slips only from the Board’s approved website.

“Candidates are advised to print their UTME Notification Slips before Friday, 19th April, 2024, to access vital information about their examinations. Candidates should also beware of sites offering ‘live’ questions and answers, as they are false and deceptive, and accessing such materials is prohibited”.

The Public Relations officer of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin while condemning the fraudulent activities,
warned candidates against patronising fake websites as anyone found guilty would be disqualified.

Dr Benjamin reiterated the commitment of the Board to maintain the integrity of the examination process.

The 2024 UTME is scheduled to commence from 19th to 29th April.
