IDPs CAMP IN BENUE STATE BENEFIT FROM MEDICAL SUPPLIES BY UNICEF
Last year, UNICEF established mobile medical outreach clinics equipped with medical supplies, essential medicines and operational logistics support for multidisciplinary health teams in Ukpiam and Ortese IDPs camps in Guma Local Government Area and Ichwa in Makurdi.

the Benue State Primary Care Board, State Ministry of Health and Human Services, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, SEMA with support from UNICEF on an integrated supporting supervision and is here with the report.
At the Ortese camp in Guma Local Government Area and Ichuwa in Makurdi, health personnel such as Doctors, Nurses, Laboratory Technicians and Pharmacists were on ground offering consultations, laboratory services, administering immunization to children and giving drugs to the sick free of charge.
Executive Secretary, Benue State Primary Health Care Board, Mrs Grace Ashi-Wende expressed satisfaction with UNICEF and the Benue State Government for prioritizing the health of the vulnerable and ensuring they receive medical services.
Mrs Ashi-Wende particularly appreciated UNICEF for carrying out medical outreach interventions in five IDP camps and their host communities in Gwer West, Guma and Makurdi Local Government Areas where over forty one thousand IDPs received medical consultations and treatment services while more than five thousand children vaccinated with measles vaccine.
Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Mr Aondowase Kunde while commended UNICEF for the Humanitarian outreach services identified shortage of drugs as one of the challenges confronting the two camps visited and appealed for more supplies.
Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Health and Human Services, Dr Beatrice Tsavmbu appreciated development partners for standing by the state through its Humanitarian crisis and assured that the Government would continue to provide for the health needs of the people at all times.
State Based Technical Consultant, UNICEF, Mr Jeremiah Ituokosu stated that following the growing humanitarian crisis in Benue State, they stepped in to control medical emergencies.
Mrs Faith Hough whose child was receiving treatment at Ortese IDP camp and Mbalamen Terver who was treated for malaria last week at Ichwa camp appreciated UNICEF for their timely intervention which has gone a long was to save them.
