NDE Begins Training for Rural Farmers in Nasarawa

The National Directorate of Employment has commenced the training of rural farmers under the sustainable agricultural development scheme in Nasarawa State.
At the flag-off of the exercise in Lafia, the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment NDE, Mallam Abubakar Fikpo said the scheme was part of steps toward creating jobs for the unemployed youths across the country.
The participants who are mostly young farmers were selected from the thirteen local government areas of Nasarawa State to be trained in modern trends for crop and animal production.
The Director General National Directorate of Employment Mallam Abubakar Fikpo explained that the scheme was in line with the federal government’s drive towards deradicalization and reorientation of the minds of the unemployed youths to de-emphasize the search for nonexistent white-collar jobs and embrace skills acquisition.
The Director General, represented by the Nasarawa State Coordinator National Directorate of Employment NDE Mr. Christopher Bamsida who noted that the federal government was committed to providing resources for the youths to contribute to the nation’s economic growth, pointed out that over 1,850 young farmers were selected across the thirty-six states and the FCT. to benefit from the scheme.
Nasarawa State Coordinator National Productivity Centre Mrs Mojisola Imosun stressed the need for Nigerians especially the youths to imbibe a new thinking toward exploiting their potential for the development of the country.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mr Ibrahim Inusa said the scheme was a rare opportunity given to them to acquire new skills in agriculture. Start-up packs were expected to be distributed to the participants at the end of the training.
