Official appointment of Tinubu’s govt is by merit – Akume
Secretary to the government of the federation (SFG), Senator George Akume, says merits, competency and strict adherence to the federal character principle will henceforth take centre stage when considering appointments in this present administration.
Senator Akume, stated this at a reception organised in honor of Pastor Raymond Omachi, Permanent Secretary in the office of the Head of the civil Service of the federation and Dr Vincent Isegbe who was re-appointed as Director General of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, both of whom were recently appointed by president Tinubu.
According to him, President Tinubu recognises the diversity of Nigeria and carefully harnessed it for the unity, stability and progress of the country.
The SGF called for patience from Nigerians as all effort are on to revive the economy and better the living standards of the citizens. “Excellence, Merit and qualified personnel will remain criteria for appointment to any position. tinubu meant well for Nigerians and from his appointments so far you can confirm that he has a good motive for Nigeria by putting the right people at each helm of affairs to achieve the renewed hope agenda”.
Senator Akume, who spoke through his representative Obande Ajene, explained that the era of appointments racketeering where merits and competency were sacrificed to please some few loyalist was over as only those with credentials capable of turning the nation’s economy around will henceforth be considered for appointments .
The New appointees and other speakers at the event while appreciating the president, pledged to bring their professional experience to bear in line with the renewed hope agenda of the current government.
