Insecurity: DHQ Receives 20 Improved Armor Personnel Carriers

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has received an upgrade in its arsenal with the introduction of enhanced Armor Personnel Carriers, aimed at bolstering the nation’s efforts in combating insecurity.

Representing the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, officially handed over 20 APCs, along with their accompanying documents and keys, to General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), in a ceremony held on Wednesday in Abuja.

According to Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, these armored personnel carriers represent a significant advancement, boasting upgraded weaponry and communication systems capable of detecting and engaging adversaries from afar, thereby enhancing military effectiveness.

Highlighting the economic benefits, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar Kana noted that the APCs were domestically manufactured, signaling a cost-saving measure for the nation, while also generating employment opportunities and reducing dependence on foreign currency.

Expressing gratitude for the support, General Christopher Gwabin Musa commended the Minister of Defence for the initiative, affirming his commitment to employing the carriers efficiently to advance ongoing security operations, with the ultimate goal of eliminating threats to the nation.
