FG Distributes Relief Materials to 1000 Windstorm Victims in Nasarawa

One thousand households affected by recent windstorms in communities of Doma, Keana,Awe and Keffi local government areas of Nasarawa State have taken delivery of relief materials from the National Commission for Refugee, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.
At the distribution of the items in Lafia, The State Commissioner for Special Duties on Humanitarian, Social Services and NGOs, Princess Margaret Elayo emphasized the State government’s commitment to strengthening a robust collaboration with the federal government to provide relief to victims of disasters.
The beneficiaries of the relief materials were victims of the recent rainstorm which destroyed properties in communities including ,Aloshi ,Agbashi in Keana and Doma and parts of Awe and Keffi local government areas.
Commissioner for Special Duties on Humanitarian, Social Services and NGOs Princess Margaret Elayo assured that the ministry would continue to pay close attention to victims of disasters for prompt provision of palliative measures.
Princess Margaret Elayo commended the Federal and State Governments for their swift response towards reducing the suffering of the victims.
On his part, The Federal Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons Alhaji Tijani Aliyu Ahmed disclosed that the commission would construct skills acquisition centres for Internally displaced persons and accord priority to their education and health needs.
Speaking to Radio Nigeria Precious FM, Some of the beneficiaries, Hassan Umar, Stella Maman and Onyeka Oga while expressing gratitude to the federal and the state governments,gave assurance that the items will go a long way to improve their living conditions.
Items donated to the beneficiaries include clothing and food items.
