Women Affairs Ministry to partner Relevant Agencies to Sensitize People on Family Survival

Nasarawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development says it will strengthen partnerships with relevant agencies especially the media to sensitize the people on the importance of family bonds and survival.
Commissioner Hajiya Aishatu Rufai Ibrahim stated this while briefing News Men in Lafia as part of activities to mark this year’s International Family’s Day.
The celebration of International Day of Families provides an opportunity to promote awareness of issues relating to families and to increase the knowledge of the Social, Economic and Demographic processes affecting the family.
The construction is also empowering families through education l, changing consumption habits and advocacy for meaningful and effective climate change.
Speaking on the significance of the day, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Aishtu Rufai Ibrahim said, families are regarded as the basic social unit of the society which the physical and emotional survival depends solely on the protection of their members.
The commissioner said her Ministry would work with the media and other relevant agencies to enlighten families about alternative actions on climate change that may not affect the environment
According to the Commissioner, the position of the family institution in any society cannot be overemphasised.
Hajiya Ibrahim applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for his commitment towards ensuring the safety and well-being of all families in the state
She added that social workers from the Ministry have been providing routine counselling services and assisting distressed families affected by communal conflicts and natural disasters.
The Theme for this year’s International Day of Families is ” Families and Climate Change”.
