Plateau State Government has expressed its willingness towards making the state a medical tourism hub.
This was made known by Governor Caleb Mutfwang during a visit by the House of Representatives Committee on Health, held at the Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
As part of its oversight functions, the House committee on health visited Plateau State to gather facts on Federal Government’s health facilities situated in the State.
Receiving the team, Governor Caleb Mutfwang charged members to always carry out their functions effectively to ensure compliance and assured of the state government’s support.
Governor Mutfwang decried the issue of doctors employment in the various health facilities in addition to issues around the IPPIS, noting that the challenges were hampering efficient health delivery.
He also appreciated the Federal Government for the choice of the state for the establishment of the North/Central orthopedic Hospital and further solicited more funding to JUTH and the Federal Medical Center in Wase.
Earlier, Chairman of the Committee, Amos Magaji said they were in the state to seek areas of intervention and collaboration by the Federal Government.
The House Committee chairman thanked the Governor for his support towards the improvement of healthcare services in the state and tasked him to sustain the momentum.
