Children’s Day Celebration: Gov Sule Assures Continued Support To Educational Sector

Nasarawa State Government says it will continue to commit enormous resources to education and skills acquisition for the youths to enhance the sustainable economic development of the state.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Hajiya Aishatu Stated stated this during the Children’s Day celebration in Lafia, the Nasarawa state Capital.

On May 27, Nigeria joined other countries across the globe to commemorate the annual Children’s Day where school children mostly from secondary and primary schools take a day off to mark the day by engaging in activities including parade, fanfare and cultural displays.

In Nasarawa State, students from primary and secondary schools across the state converged on the Lafia township stadium colourfully dressed in uniforms to participate in parades.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Hajiya Aishatu Rufia Ibrahim Said Education and skill Acquisition are essential building blocks for social and Economic Development of the society.

According to the Commissioner, children represent the essence of the nation and as such the state government will remain committed to their well-being.

Head of Department, Entrepreneurship Studies Federal University Lafia Mr Jibrin Danladi Agabi in a paper presentation on this year’s theme ” Enhancing the total well-being of the Nigerian Child through Quality Education and Skills Development,” noted that children needed practical skills to drive the modern world to economic prosperity.

Mr Jiibrin Explained that, by developing various skills, children would be self-reliant to take up challenges, adapt to new situations and solve problems independently.

In an interview, some of the school children, Master Japhet Eshigoza and Miss Emmanuel Amos stressed the need for the government to provide a conducive learning environment in their schools.

The high points of the event were cultural displays performed by the school children and the cutting of the cake by dignitaries and pupils
