COAS Highlights Importance of Civil-Military Cooperation for National Security

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tauheed Lagbaja, has emphasised the crucial role of effective civil-military cooperation in achieving national security.

Speaking at the Second Quarter Media Chat in Kano, Gen. Lagbaja praised the media for their accurate and fair reporting on the Nigerian Army’s achievements.

Lagbaja, represented by Major General MLD Saraso, Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, stated that the Nigerian Army’s Civil Military Cooperation aims to strengthen collaboration between the Nigerian Army and the media, ensuring effective dissemination of essential information to the general public.

He expressed gratitude to the media for their steadfast commitment to reporting accurately, fairly, and impartially on the Nigerian Army’s activities, acknowledging their vital role in fulfilling their constitutional responsibility.

The army chief emphasised that the Nigerian Army is committed to fostering increased collaboration with the media and promoting open dialogue and mutual respect.

Lagbaja highlighted the army’s successes in various operations, including counter-terrorism efforts and the restoration of socio-economic activities in previously deserted communities.

Major General Nosacarat Ugbo, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, emphasised the importance of responsible and professional reporting practices.

The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye, commended the Nigerian Army for organizing the workshop, which aimed to synergize civil-military cooperation for national security.

The event featured presentations from academia and communication experts, attracting participants from various media outlets.
