Nigerian Army Inaugurates Water Project in Community.

The Nigerian Army says it is committed to adopting new strategies in the efforts to fully eliminate terrorism and insurgency in the country.
The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja stated this during the commissioning of a Solar Powered Industrial Borehole in the Alesi Community of Ikom Local Government Area Cross River State.
The Solar Powered Industrial Borehole Project is the initiative of the Commander 4 Special Forces Command of the Nigerian Army Doma Nasarawa State, Major General Hilary Nzan under the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Project as part of efforts toward improving the living conditions of people.
The Chief of Army Staff represented by the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Enugu, Major General Hassan Dada while handing over the water project to the community commended Major General Hilary Nzan for his industrious and well-thought-out initiative aimed at responding to the critical needs of his people.
The Chief of Army Staff urged Troops to continue to devise new ways of deepening cooperation with the civilian communities around them as part of strategies aimed at boosting confidence in the operations of the military
The Commander 4 Special Forces Command of the Nigerian Army, Doma, Major General Hilary Nzan in a remark, stated that the idea was borne out of his desire to provide relief for the Alesi Community which had been faced with the challenges of basic essential amenities, especially portable drinking water.
Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Army Headquarters, Major General Nosa Ugbo while commending residents of the community for exhibiting a high sense of cooperation throughout the work on the project noted that the intervention was in line with the military role of bringing succour to the people in need.
The Alesi Community Leader, Mr. Odigha Odigha expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army for the intervention project which according to him would entrench stronger cooperation between the military and the civilian populace.
Mr Odigha noted that the borehole project would go a long way in addressing the long cases of waterborne diseases affecting the community.
High points of the event include cultural displays and the conferment of a traditional title on the Chief of Army Staff.
