England secured a goalless draw against Sweden in their final women’s Euro 2025 qualifier, securing their place at next year’s finals. Italy and the Netherlands also qualified.

Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses knew they would secure a top-two finish in Group A3 and qualify automatically for the tournament next July in Switzerland if they avoided defeat.

England created few chances in Gothenburg but clung on despite late pressure from Sweden, who would have qualified themselves with a victory. The Scandinavians finished third in the group and will have to settle for a place in the play-offs later this year.

Alessia Russo was inches away from connecting with Georgia Stanway’s dangerous cross before the Bayern Munich midfielder struck wide.

Sweden, who were organized defensively, had their first shot on the stroke of half-time but Hanna Lundkvist fired over, before Johanna Rytting Kaneryd poked an effort into the side-netting.

Italy and the Netherlands progressed from Group A1, with Italy romping to a 4-0 victory over Finland and the Dutch securing second place with a 1-1 draw against Norway.

The UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 will take place in Switzerland from July 2 to July 27, 2025, with the opening match and final at St. Jakob-Park in Basel.
