Signing into law

Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, signed into law the bill establishing second-class emirates in the state few hours after it was passed by the state house of assembly.

The bill, sponsored by Deputy Speaker Muhammad Bello Bututu, representing Rimin Gado/Tofa state, was discussed during a session at the Kano State House of Assembly, which was presided over by speaker Ismail Falgore.

Kano State has had a series of litigations over the dethronement of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and the reinstating of the 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

This recent development comes barely 24 hours after the Kano High Court presided over by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu restrained Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and four other dethroned Emirs from parading themselves as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye.
