YMCA Mada Hills Scale Up Community Nurseries Establishment to Five Additional LGA

Young Men Christian Association, YMCA Mada Hills have trained sixty Community Ambassadors of Climate Justice in Nasarawa State on the Establishment of Oil Palm Nurseries.

Executive Secretary of YMCA , Mister Ango Adamu stated this while speaking to Radio Nigeria Precious FM in Lafia the Nasarawa State Capital.

Young Men Christian Association, YMCA Mada Hills is a Non profitable organisation based in Lafia which strengthen the livelihood of small scale farmers including persons living with disabilities.

It is on this basis that YMCA embarked on the capacitytraining for Climate change Ambassadors in communities of Tudun Adabu in Obi,Sarkin Noma in Keana ,Alawaza in Doma,Angwan Kafinta in Wamba and Tilla in Keffi local government areas of Nasarawa State on establishment of oil palm nurseries under the African Activists for Climate Justice Project to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change across the state.

The Executive Secretary of YMCA, Mada Hills ,Mr Ango Adamu explained that the training is to create awareness to the participants on nursery establishment and plantation in their communities and ways to combat climate change crisis.

Earlier, President of YMCA Mada Hills, Reverend James Agot,commended the sponsors of the projects, tasked the participants to educate members of their communities on the importance of tree planting.

The Country Lead of African Activists for Climate Justice,Mr Kenneth Akpan who commended YMCA,appealed to the participants to use the knowledge gained to improve their livelihood and to achieve a zero climate change crisis in their communities.

In his Presentation on Establishment of Oil Palm Nurseries,A Climate and Environmental Compliance Advisor and the Lead Facilitator,Mr Enokela Candidas said climate change is a natural phenomenon,noted that planting of trees would help in mitigating it.

Some participants,Bridget Abraham and Anzaku Philip said the training has opened their eyes on establishment of oil palm nurseries and planting of trees to combat climate change, promised to step down the knowledge gained to people in their communities

The capacity building training for sixty Community Ambassadors on Climate Justice had in attendance people from Obi, Doma, Keana, Wamba and Keffi.
