Ministry of Women Affairs Appeal to Nigerians to ‘Abandon’ Planned Protests

The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye has called for support and patience from Nigerians, urging citizens to abandon the planned protest and give President Tinubu’s government a chance to fulfill its mandate.
Speaking at a rally in Abuja, titled “Women Join Tinubu to Save Nigeria,” the Minister emphasised the importance of allowing the President Bola Tinubu-led administration time to fully implement its policies.
“Women are the mothers of the nation, and that’s why we gathered to plead with our children to stay home. We don’t want to lose any of them. Let them stay home and give the government a chance. I believe that one year from now, the government’s efforts will start showing results. I know things are hard, but I’m not ignoring that”, she said.
She noted that “under a year, the Ministry of Women Affairs has supplied empowerment machines to over 16 states, including the FCT. The president wants to change things.”
Former Niger Delta agitator, Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, highlighted the crucial role women play in the nation’s stability and progress. He urged them to caution their children and wards against actions that could lead to chaos, noting that the issues Nigeria faces are global.
He noted, “We all know the president has been there for one year plus, he was given a four years mandate, the president is not a magician and as women you feel the pain of what is happening more than any group of people, the president must be supported at this moment to save this country, people should set politics aside”
The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Lucky Emonefe, also appealed to women to support the president in better serving the country. He affirmed that the students would support the president’s efforts to achieve success.
