Senator Funding Protests Identified – Wike

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says on Thursday that security forces had identified a Senator who reportedly funded protests in the nation’s capital.
He stated this during a news briefing following a security council meeting in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The Minister did not mention the senator’s identify, as he stated that the member provided food to the protesters.
“A senator providing food for protesters. At the appropriate time, security agencies will invite the senator and find out how you will be sponsoring this kind of thing against the government of the day.” The Minister noted.
The minister, security agencies got an intelligence report of persons wanting to hijack the peaceful protest, the court therefore restricted the protesters to the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja.
Wike urged protesters to obey the court order to conduct their the MK protest within the MKO Abiola Stadium for the protest.
Earlier, the minister commended protesters in the nation’s capital for shunning violence and choosing peace.
Wike maintained that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is taking necessary measures to better the lives of Nigerians.
The protest led to breakdown of law and order in some states where properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
These led the imposition of 24-hour curfew in some states to avoid further destructions.
