The #EndBadGovernance protests took a new turn as protesters launched a one-million-man rally in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on Saturday.

The protest which the organisers said was aimed at drawing government’s attention to the rising cost of living and ‘anti’ people policies, began on August 1 and is set to wrap up today, August 10.

They said the one-million-man protest will hold in all 36 states and the capital, marking the end of the 10 days hunger protest.

Early Saturday morning, some demonstrators were seen in the streets of the FCT with placards and chanting, “We are hungry.”

While the protest was in its third day on Sunday, President Bola Tinubu addressed the protesters via a live broadcast highlighting the steps government was taking to ensure the issues the raised were addressed.

The president pointed out in his address that the government has been improving food security, Fiscal responsibility, Infrastructure, the Oil and Gas Sector, Youth Empowerment Programmes, Housing Projects aimed at reversing the hardship being faced by Nigerians.

However, opinions were divided as to whether the address had an impact on meeting the protesters demand or not.

While the president got praises from some Nigerians, others criticized him for not reversing the petroleum subsidies removal and flotation of the naira which they believe were the major reason for the protest.

The protest which turned violent in some states of the North especially Kano, Kaduna, Borno, Plataeu and Bauchi states however lost steam after a few days of its commencement.

The protest is expected to end today, August 10 going by the timeline of the organizers.
