Tinubu Pledges to Strengthen Nigerian Military

President Bola Tinubu has pledged to use his constitutional powers to further equip and empower the Nigerian military.
The commitment was made during the graduation ceremony for Course 32 participants at the National Defence College in Abuja.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu emphasised the significant sacrifices and achievements of the Nigerian Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and securing citizens’ lives and property.
“Under my watch, members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria have made remarkable sacrifices and recorded significant achievements,” Tinubu said.
In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Course 32 graduates for their contributions to research aimed at harnessing the mining industry to bolster national security and development.
The Commandant of the National Defence College, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, announced that the 111 graduates would play a crucial role in strengthening Nigeria’s strategic leadership.
The Course 32 class comprised members from various national agencies, including the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Security, and multiple ministries.
Additionally, 19 international participants from India, Brazil, South Africa, and Ghana attended the course, reflecting Nigeria’s commitment to global defence and security cooperation.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Wale Edun, Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and former Delta State Governor James Ibori.
Others are the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammed Matawalle; Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar; and Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.
