Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Buba Marwa has approved special promotions for eight officers of the Marine Command in recognition of their bravery and professionalism during a recent operation targeting drug traffickers.

The officers played a crucial role in intercepting canoes and boats transporting illicit drugs from Ghana to Nigeria via Lagos waterways.

At a brief ceremony held at the NDLEA National Headquarters in Abuja, the retired Brigadier General decorated the officers with their new ranks and presented them with commendation letters, attributing the success to the organisation’s dedication and hard work built over the years.

Marwa emphasised that the special promotions and commendations were justified by the officers’ exemplary conduct in overcoming challenges posed by a criminal gang attempting to smuggle 60 jumbo bags of illicit drugs.

On behalf of the promoted officers, team leader Aaron Dick thanked the NDLEA Chairman for his leadership and efforts in transforming the agency into a more efficient and results-driven organisation.

The officers promoted include Aaron Dick; Mayowa Alabi; Gabriel Ubokikwan; Daniel John Aso; Emmanuel Sule Abdul; Victor Sonpano Ngabolo; Emmanuel Sule Jonah; and Timipa Gabriel Membe.
