FG UNVEILS PLAN TO DEPLOY LOCALLY MADE DEVICES TO COMBAT OIL THEFT

The Federal Government is collaborating with indigenous Companies to promote Local Content and tackle the perennial challenges of Oil theft through the deployment of locally made devices to protect the Nation’s asset in the oil sector.
The Minister of State, Petroleum Resources Oil, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri stated this during an inspection tour of one of the companies in Abuja.
He said for many years now, Federal government has been losing losing billions of naira to oil theft with many analyst accusing government of not accounting official records selling crude oil.
To address this menace the Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Oil Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, stressed the need to collaborate with indigenous Companies that would designed a drones for Surveillance that would help combat smuggling of Petroleum products and Oil theft in the country.
Sen. Lokpobiri who was impressed with the facilities he saw during an oversight visit to one of the companies, said the collaboration would help to increase indigenous participation, create jobs and boost economic growth in line with the Federal Government Commitment to diversify the economy.
The Chief Executive officer, of the company Shehu Abdullahi, thanked Federal Government for their unwavering support to the company, pledged their support to complement Government efforts in winning the fight against crude oil theft.
Highpoint of the visit was the inspection of facilities in the company in curbing oil theft in the country.
