FG Inaugurates Digital Platform for Evaluation of Schools at Pre-Tertiary Level
The Federal Government has inaugurated a digital platform to boost quality assurance and evaluation of schools at the pre-tertiary level across the country.
The E-platform known as Federal Education Quality Assurance Service Cloud Server, FEQAS-collect, was developed in collaboration with the National Space Research and Development Agency.
At the event in Abuja, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu said the application was a testament of the Federal Government’s commitment to transform the quality of education across the country.
The Minister explained that the innovative system was designed to streamline the collection, analysis and reporting of data related to the quality of education in schools.
He said: “The cloud server will revolutionise the operations of the FEQAS Department to enable it to enhance data capturing and management, Streamline processes and improve efficiency, Boost collaboration, networking and efficient reporting, Ensure scalability and flexibility; and Fortify security and data protection”
“With this technology, the Ministry is better equipped to monitor, evaluate, and improve education quality assurance processes and practices across the nation. It will also enable the Ministry to make data-driven decisions, identify areas needing improvement and track progress towards achieving our educational goals and aspirations.”
Dr. Sununu, represented by the Director, Information Communications Technology, ICT in the Ministry, Alhaji Abubakar Isah urged the Federal Education Quality Assurance Service Department in the Ministry and other stakeholders to embrace and ensure full implementation of the application.
The Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi said the Commission decided to automate it’s quality assurance processes to tackle challenges such as getting real time and accurate data, reducing errors among others.
He said “This innovation is helping the officers to conduct their work efficiently and provide timely feedback to school and stakeholders.
“The impact of the technological intervention in our school quality assurance evaluation encouraged us to decide to extend the facility to the Federal Quality Assurance Services (FEQAS) in the overall interest of educational development in the country,”
Dr. Bobboyi expressed optimism that the cloud server would bring about the desired change in the method of carrying out quality assurance in schools.
