Presidential Initiative on CNG Urges Transporters to Take Advantage of Free Conversion Vehicle Program

The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas is calling on transporters and their affiliate unions to take advantage of the ongoing free conversion vehicle program of the federal government across the country aimed at reducing the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

Coordinator Logistics and Supply Chain of the Initiative Mr Thomas Ayu made the call during the inspection of vehicle’s compatibility and a hand over ceremony of conversion kits and cylinders in Kaduna .

Mr Thomas Ayu reimphsized that President Bola Tinubu was committed to his promise of cushioning the effect of fuel subsidy removal on the populace through relevant intervention programs.

‘we are converting transporters vehicles completely free , both cylinders,kits and cost of conversion in line with Mr president directive and promise to the Nigerian people ‘

‘we are targeting to give out about ten thousand kits and cylinders free of charge to commercial vehicles in the coming weeks and months across the country’,he narrated.

He said one hundred and fifty kits and one hundred and fifty cylinders will be distributed to Kaduna transporters on this batch of conversion , adding that the kits and cylinders are not for personal cars.

‘we have not started converting cars of private individuals,or organization but purely those in the transport sector so that the impact of fuel subsidy removal will not affect them very much’

‘at the moment we have kits for six cylinders and that of four cylinders cars; and Rolling Energy is one of our partners that is converting the vehicles in the transport sector on behalf of the government’,he explained

The coordinator reiterated that converted CNG cars and it’s technology is cleaner, cheaper and cost effective , hence the need for all Nigerians to embrace the initiative wholeheartedly for their good and the country at large.
