National grid collapses again
The national electricity grid collapsed once more on Tuesday, plunging millions into darkness just a day after a similar incident.
The latest outage occurred around 6:48 p.m. on October 14, resulting in widespread power loss across various regions.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), serving parts of Lagos State, confirmed the collapse on X, stating, “Dear valued customer, kindly be informed that there was a system collapse at 09:17 hrs, which has resulted in a loss of power supply across our network.” They assured customers that efforts were underway for a speedy restoration.
The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company also acknowledged the outage and pledged to restore normalcy as soon as possible. They apologized for the inconvenience caused by the grid failure.
Meanwhile, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company announced maintenance work affecting certain areas of the Federal Capital Territory, scheduled for October 16, while the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company reported disruptions in multiple states due to the grid collapse.
As power companies work to restore services, residents are left awaiting updates on when they can expect electricity to return.
