LG Polls: Nasarawa Elects New Executives in 13 LGAs and 147 Wards

Residents of Nasarawa state go to polls today Saturday to elect chairmen and councillors of local government areas in the state.
New Executives will be elected to pilot affairs in the 13 local government councils and 147 Electoral Wards of the state for the next three years.
14 political parties are participating in the local government elections.
Ten Election Observer Groups comprising NGO’s Women and Youth groups as well as Civil Society Organisations from within and outside the state were accredited to monitor the exercise to ensure a Transparent and credible election.
Similarly Over Ten thousand adhoc staff have been trained and engaged for the conduct of the election..
To ensure a smooth exercise, over 5 thousand security personnel comprising the police,Nigeria security and civil defense Corps DSS,personnel of Federal Road safety corps, Immigration,and state owned Youth Empowerment Agency among others.
Chairman of Nasarawa state independent Electoral commission NASIEC Ayuba Usman Wandai told journalists in an interview that necessary measures have been taken to a ensure a free,fair hitch free credible and acceptable polls..
Meanwhile Two main opposition political parties…the People’s Democratic party PDP and New Nigeria People’s party NNPP have withdrew their participation from the local government elections over short notice and high cost of purchase of nomination forms at NASIEC.
