100 Elderly Persons to Benefit From Nasarawa State First Lady’s Cash Gift

Office of the Nasarawa State First Lady is to strengthen collaboration with relevant corporate bodies, government agencies, NGOs, and individuals towards ameliorating the plight of Elderly persons in society.
The state first lady Hajiya silifat Abdullahi Sule stated this during a donation of cash to elderly people to mark this year’s International Day of the Elderly held at Children’s homen Lafia.
Each of the one hundred elderly person received fifty thousand Naira .
The programme put together by the state ministry of women Affairs and social development in collaboration with the office of the First lady was part of activities to mark this year’s International Day of the elderly to help alliviate some of their challenges in the society.
First Lady of Nasarawa State who presented the Cash gift noted that rendering assistance to the Elderly became necessary considering their tireless effort that ensured that the country remains United to achieve a common goal..
Hajiya salifat advised the beneficiaries to make judicous use of the money, promising that the state government would continue to support them. .
She further called on women to take proper care of their children, especially the girl child, nothing that drug abuse and human Trafficking has become the order of the day amongst the female gender.
The Commissioner for women Affairs and social development Hajiya Aisha Rufai Ibrahim said the event which is the first of it kind in the state was geared towards bringing the elderly together to celebrate their contributions to the growth and development of the state.
The Commissioner emphasised that the cash donations to the elderly is inline with the present administration commitment to assisting the less privileged and announced that arrangements are on to gear to provide more assistance to the Elderly, widows orphans and other vulnerable members of the society across the state.
In a remark the Special Adviser to the governor on Women Affairs Sarah Mamam and the representative of the chairman House Committee on Women affairs Nasarawa State House Of Assembly commended the efforts of the first Lady and the ministry for always making the plight of the elderly and vulnerable a priority.
Martins Audu Doma, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, appreciated the organizers for coming to their aid and appealed for sustenance of the programme.
The beneficiaries were drawn from the thirteen local government areas of the state.
